This means that you and your partner can focus on what matters most: building your family.

What Is the Real Cost of IVF in New York?

IVF is a complex process in which eggs are extracted from the ovaries, fertilized with sperm, turned into embryos, and transferred into the recipient’s uterus. Accomplishing this monumental feat of reproductive care requires the most advanced medical technologies, laboratory equipment, and techniques, as well as expensive medications. Since 1978, when the first IVF baby was born, the procedure has become increasingly popular all over the world. Today, it is one of the most successful and popular forms of fertility care.

However, because it’s such an advanced form of reproductive technology, it can also be expensive. In New York, a single round of IVF can cost between $11,000 to $17,000, not including the cost of medications or unexpected fees.

Furthermore, most patients who go through IVF end up needing two or more rounds before achieving a successful pregnancy. According to the Society for Reproductive Technology (SART), an organization dedicated to setting standards for assisted reproductive technology, it’s estimated that only about 26% of fertility patients have a pregnancy resulting in a live birth during their first IVF cycle. Women who are over the age of 35 are even less likely to succeed on their first try at IVF.

When patients first start exploring their fertility journey options, they are often surprised to realize that they may have to budget for not one, but several cycles of IVF. The financial strain of fertility care can inject a great deal of stress and anxiety into the family-building process, which should be joyful above all else.

Thankfully, this is where Bundl can step in and help. Our multi-cycle financial packages take away the stressful unpredictability associated with fertility care. Our packages combine multiple treatment cycles into one “bundle” at a discount. To make the costs for your fertility journey even more straightforward, we offer flexible add-ons and shared-risk protection guarantees.

Are IVF and Other Fertility Treatments Covered by Insurance in New York?

New York is one of the few states that have fairly comprehensive laws about fertility care written into their insurance code. Enacted in 2020, the New York Insurance Law requires that many large group insurance policies provide coverage for up to three cycles of IVF. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that your insurance will provide coverage. Early on in your fertility journey, it’s crucial that you talk to your employer and/or insurance provider to get a full understanding of your fertility care insurance coverage.

Multi-Cycle IVF & Refund Plans in New York

Although getting pregnant isn’t always easy, we believe that paying for fertility care should be. Bundl’s primary focus is to reduce the financial barriers that keep patients from achieving their family-building goals. We want every growing family to focus on having a child and not how they will pay for the services they need to make this dream a reality. Bundl makes IUI, IVF, and other fertility treatments more affordable through our packages, which combine multiple treatment cycles into one reduced-cost bundle. You can review how our packages work below:

  • The 1+1 Package: Bundl’s 1+1 Package combines one IUI cycle and one IVF cycle. This is an excellent option for those starting with IUI, but are aware that they will possibly need to transition to IVF.
  • The 2-Retrieval and 3-Retrieval Packages: Bundl’s 2-Retrieval and 3-Retrieval Packages combine multiple cycles of IVF into one reduced cost, upfront payment. This is normally the best option for those who anticipate that multiple IVF cycles will be needed.

Finally, you can get greater peace of mind because all of our packages come with a shared-risk protection feature, meaning that your family building investment will be protected. Learn more about our industry-first IVF risk protection and refund programs Success Guard† and Bundl Guard‡.

Fertility Financing FAQ

How much does IUI really cost in New York? + -

IUI, also sometimes referred to as artificial insemination, is not nearly as invasive or complex as IVF and, as such, has a much lower price tag. In New York, IUI usually costs between $200 and $1,000 for a single cycle, although this does not include the costs associated with fertility medications, which are often necessary. With fees for these medications included, the range for an IUI cycle can increase to $500 and $4,000. IUI is also not as successful as IVF, which means that patients may have to try several rounds of IUI before having to transition to IVF anyway. Over time, all of these treatment cycles can add up.

Does insurance cover IVF? + -

Although New York has laws that require insurance coverage for fertility care in certain situations, it’s not guaranteed that your specific plan will offer coverage. It’s always advised that you connect with your insurance provider directly to confirm coverage.

Is there affordable IVF? + -

One of the most common complaints of patients undergoing IVF is related to cost and how unpredictable and generally expensive it is. There are some options that patients can utilize to make IVF more affordable, one of which includes working with Bundl’s multi-cycle packages. With Bundl’s packages, all of your fees (including add-ons) can be put into one plan that is given with a discount.

How do I finance IVF? + -

Outside of working with Bundl, your options to pay for IVF and other fertility services can include using loans, grants, home equity, personal savings, credit cards, and fundraising efforts.

What if IVF is unsuccessful? + -

Even with impressive success rates, IVF is not always successful. Unfortunately, when IVF fails, patients often find themselves left with high bills, adding another layer of stress to an already upsetting situation. At Bundl, we believe that patients should only have to pay for fertility care when it’s successful. That’s why we offer Bundl Guard‡ for our 2-Retrieval and 3-Retrieval IVF Packages. Bundl Guard‡ refunds 100% of your principal investment if your IVF treatments are unsuccessful.
