What Is the Real Cost of IVF in New Jersey?

As one of the leading forms of fertility care, many patients rely on IVF because of its high success rates. However, the issue that many IVF patients face is that the process can be rather expensive. In New Jersey, the fee for one cycle of IVF can be anywhere from $11,000 to $17,000. This estimate doesn’t necessarily include other factors that can impact the final price.

One of the reasons why the total cost associated with IVF can be less than transparent is because of how likely it is that patients will require multiple rounds of treatment. The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) has recent data that shows only about one out of four fertility patients have a successful IVF cycle on their first attempt. If a female patient is age 35 or older, success rates for IVF are substantially lower. Overall, a majority of fertility patients will need to undergo around two to three cycles of IVF.

Despite this information, it is rare for patients to plan on having to undertake multiple IVF cycles, especially when it comes to how they will pay for the totality of care. It should also be noted that there are expenses you might not expect to incur during IVF. Examples of these can include the costs of fertility medications, like injections, additional screening measures, and services like genetic testing. Because of these factors, budgeting for more than one IVF cycle can be a significant burden for many patients.

So, how does Bundl help make IVF affordable in New Jersey? By combining multiple cycles into one package at a reduced cost, there is no guesswork or hidden expenses, making IVF costs easier to understand and budget for. Additionally, our packages provide flexible add-on options when further expenses are anticipated or recommended by your fertility clinic. Lastly, your investment is protected because our plans come with shared-risk protection.

Are IVF and Other Fertility Treatments Covered by Insurance in New Jersey?

New Jersey is currently one of only a small percentage of states that have laws that mandate insurance coverage for fertility care, including coverage for IVF. However, these laws do not necessarily guarantee that you will receive coverage. Your plan may have limitations that make coverage not applicable to the form of care you require, or coverage may only be partially available. Fertility patients will need to connect with their insurance provider directly to review the terms of their plan to get a clear picture of what to expect. Multi-Cycle IVF & Refund Plans in New Jersey

Your growing family is always going to be what matters most, which is why Bundl’s mission is to help provide relief from the financial stressors involved with fertility care. IVF and IUI are made more affordable through our plans because multiple treatment cycles are combined into one package so costs are reduced. You can learn how this works below:

  • The 1+1 Package: Bundl’s 1+1 Package combines one IUI cycle and one IVF cycle. This option is ideal for those seeking a straightforward and affordable path to transition to IVF should IUI prove unsuccessful.
  • The 2-Retrieval and 3-Retrieval Packages: Bundl’s 2-Retrieval and 3-Retrieval Packages combine multiple cycles of IVF into one reduced cost, upfront payment. This option is preferable for those who are aware they are likely to need more than one cycle of IVF.

A further core benefit of Bundle’s fertility treatment packages is that they come with shared-risk protection, so fertility patients can have complete peace of mind. Learn more about our industry-first IVF risk protection and refund programs Success Guard† and Bundl Guard‡.

Fertility Financing FAQ

How much does IUI really cost in New Jersey? + -

IUI is a popular first step in fertility care. It is less invasive and complex than IVF, so one cycle of IUI is substantially less costly than one cycle of IVF. In New Jersey, IUI costs typically range from $200 to $1,000 per cycle. However, this is not necessarily the total treatment cost because additional items like fertility medications are often needed, so costs can actually increase to $500 to $4,000 per cycle.

Patients should be aware that success rates for IUI are part of the reason why multiple rounds of care are so often required; IUI success rates are much lower than that of IVF. Thus, many patients who begin treatment using IUI eventually turn toward IVF.

Is IVF covered by insurance? + -

In New Jersey, group insurers, HMOs, State Health Benefits Program, and School Employees Health Benefits Program are required to provide treatment for infertility, which includes IVF. As such, many New Jersey residents have a good chance of having coverage for at least some of the fertility care treatments they need. However, as noted above, this does not necessarily mean full or even a majority of coverage will be provided. Fertility laws are not comprehensive, so you will need to confirm exactly what is and is not covered with your insurance plan provider.

Is there affordable IVF? + -

Yes! IVF treatment is often expensive with unexpected fees, but there are things patients can do to make their treatment path affordable. Using IVF packages, like those provided via Bundl, substantially mitigate IVF fees because you’re paying for one discounted package instead of one cycle after another.

How do I finance IVF? + -

Patients can finance fertility treatments through their personal savings, but there is also the option of using grants, loans, credit cards, home equity, and fundraising efforts.

What if IVF is unsuccessful? + -

Unfortunately, IVF is not a guarantee of achieving a successful pregnancy. Success rates depend on a number of factors. Because of this, we at Bundl strongly believe that patients should only have to pay for fertility care when their treatment is a success. Our Bundl Guard‡ with the  2-Retrieval and 3-Retrieval IVF Packages are offered for peace of mind, but also because this is what we believe is right.
